What is decanting?
Decanting is a process in which wine is carefully decanted from the bottle into a wide decanter. This has two main advantages: first, it separates the sediment that has accumulated in the wine, and second, it allows the wine to breathe, allowing the flavors and aromas to fully develop. This is especially beneficial for older (red) wines with sediment, but can also improve the flavor of young red wines by aerating them. Mémoire decanters are specially designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind.
